Um Ma’m/Sir. You spelled Belgiun wrong. If you are from Belgium your Belgiun/Flemmish and you can/sometimes speak flemmish.

  5. unknowneuropean says:

no , I’m pretty sure its belgian and flemmish isnt a country .

  6. Konata101 says:

Wait, no. BELGIUM is a country. Not belgian. If your from BELGIUM. You’re BELGIAN or FLEMISH. AND THEY SPEAK FLEMISH. YOUR ETHIER CALLED FLEMISH OR BELGIAN. ALRUGHT!?!

  7. M0d3rator says:

country: Belgium inhabiant: belgian. you cannot speak flemmishm there is no such language. they speak dutch bt with a flemmish accent. belgium is bilingular: french and dutch and also a small piece speaks german

  8. Konata101 says:

They do not speak “Dutch with a bit of Flemish”. Flemish is a dialect of Dutch, which Dutch is a dialect of German (yes, really). They speak Dutch, Flemish, German and Wallionian (French). Flemish is a real language you idiot.

  9. M0d3rator says:

thats what i said but dutch is no dialect of german, its a total different language. and no, you dont say: speak flemmish, that just doesnt excist only if you talk about the place. they speak dutch even tho politics want to change it to:speak flemmish

  10. BelgianMusic says:

You’re confused. Flemish is not a dialect of Dutch, it’s a Dutch dialect, one of many. To be a dialect of Dutch it’d have to be derived from it, while Flemish is in fact one of the 3 main ancestors of the modern Dutch language. The other 2 are Brabantic and Hollandic. Dutch comes from Diets, an archaic term meaning ‘People of the Low Countries’, both the Hollanders and the Flemish are Dutch, Northern & Southern Dutch.

  11. BelgianMusic says:

Although in everyday usage we tend to say Flemish to our Dutch and Hollands to that of the north, linguistically speaking both those terms are not correct in that context because they only point to some of the dialects/regional languages spoken in each country. The “dialects” have existed for far longer than the standard Dutch language, which is a language that is governed by Flemish, Dutch and Suriname linguists.

  12. BelgianMusic says:

Oh, and Dutch/Nederlands (that includes Flemish) is not a dialect of German… It is part of the West-Germanic language family, same as Old English. German is modern language (again with its own regional dialects), while old Germanic (which consisted of many variants) is the forefather. german = Germanic.

So please, don’t call someone an idiot if you can’t even get the most basic facts in order.

  13. BelgianMusic says:

    In short:

The “Flemish” dialects are West-Flemish, East-Flemish, Brabantic, Antwerps, and Limburgic.

The “Hollandic” dialects are North-Hollandic, South-Hollandic, Brabantic, Limburgic, Zealandic and Gelders. (They also have Frisian which is similar but is considered to be seperate)

ALL of those are Dutch dialects, and ALL of them are ancestors to the Standard Dutch language, particularly Brabantic, Hollandic & Flemish (due to many historical events)

    I’m done.

  14. BelgianMusic says:

    typo…

“german = Germanic” should’ve been “German =/= Germanic” (=/= not equal)

  15. Konata101 says:

But acually, if you have known Diets is a dialect of some Germaniac language. The Flemish is Old Dutch, so practicly a dialect. Okay? Leave me alone. Your wrong, okay? You just think your so smart saying that when your wrong.

  16. BelgianMusic says:

LOL, I posted all that text full of historical facts proving that you were wrong, and all you can respond with a short line of text full of spelling mistakes? It’s obvious that you’re way out of your league.

“Leave me alone. Your wrong, okay? You just think your so smart saying that when your wrong.” That is hilarious!!!

  17. Konata101 says:

    I hate you—son of a bitch.

  18. P1A1U1L1I1N1E1 says:

    or french (what they speak)

  19. Konata101 says:

    (Wallonian = french)

  20. Konata101 says:

See, I agree with that. But doesn’t Dutch come from Diets, and Diets come from the Germaniac Langauge?

  21. wolfang111 says:

Actually many people say they speak ‘Flemish’ instead of ‘Dutch’ when they are from Flanders… People from the Netherlands can barely understand Flemish, but Flemish people can understand Dutch.

  22. ZimmermanTelegram says:

    Dutch, i understand.
But FRIES from FRIESLAND, that’s another paar mouwen
