Where I can get good Belgian chocolate cakes in Calcutta?

Flury is a good bakery, but I'm not sure if they have Belgian chocolate cakes.

You will need to bring order to do so. Try the bakery at Taj Bengal.

Everyone knows that the history of chocolate goes back at least to the ancient Aztecs in what is now Mexico. Did you know however that the praline entered scene much more recently than that. It seems that in 1671 the Duke of Plessis-Praline was having many problems with the rebels in the Bordeaux area of France. What was it that was so annoying these people is not really relevant to our history. What matters is that the Duke were causing a lot of aggravation which, frankly, I could have done it without him. He gave the matter much thought and then it was old wily fox, he got the idea to invent a candy that would be so tempting as it would distract the rebels of their cause, whatever that was!

He met with his chef and each came up with a recipe for almond coating with a sugar-based crust. They had invented the praline base, called, of course, after His Grace.

A couple of hundred years later, in 1912, the year the Titanic disaster of another event of truly titanic proportions in the world of chocolate took place in Belgium. Jean Neuhaus, founder of the world famous brand of the same name, about a thin chocolate shell could be filled with flavored cream or nut paste. Belgian chocolate we know today, the praline was arrived.

In the early days of Belgian chocolates were wrapped in small bags, cone-shaped paper as their only protection against damage. However, chocolates break easily so you really need better protection. Moreover, the packaging needed not only to protect but to show his best advantage as something special.

Once again Jean Neuhaus, came up with the solution. In 1920, a time of innovation in many fields, he designed the box rectangular, the ballotin, which is still used to display and protect the chocolates in the world.

Only think. If those people had not been raised Bordelais a fuss about what was the old Duke could not have set his mind to invent a new sweet. This would not have been invented chocolates. In this case, Jean Neuhaus could never have invented the chocolate box. No evidence supporting it? We bless the memory of the rebels every time we eat a chocolate!
